Market Street House Dedication
Date Details: Sunday, November 20, 2011 — Starts: 3:00 pm
November 20th marks a very special day for Habitat for Humanity of Kosciusko County, dedicating the 20th home in the organization's 20th year of existence. It marks an even bigger day for Rebeca Spears and her son Carlos Cabrera as they will become the owners of their very first home.
Rebeca is a cancer survivor who has been working as much as she can at RR Donnelly to make the down payment for the home. Carlos, a father of three, is paralyzed from the chest down after a car accident five years ago. The 20th Habitat home in Kosciusko county is a fully ADA compliant home to afford Carlos the greatest mobility possible in his new home.
Through the power of Construction Coordinator Jon Scroggs, more than 200 volunteers from various churches, schools, businesses, organizations and everyday people, donations small and large, a highly motivated Rebeca Spears and God's love in action the once vacant lot at 559 E Market Street has come alive.
As Rebeca is about to reach her goal of home ownership she has already set her next goal: being a part of the El Salvador Global Village trip in March 2012 to help give back (details on page 3). What an inspiration!
Join us on Saturday, November 5th for the final volunteer day and Sunday, November 20th for the dedication of the Spears/ Cabrera home.
